my hot take is i dont think it's ai that's making people stupider. i think in general most people (myself included) just arent that smart, but every voice is amplified now via social media so we see more and more of the dumb takes because of the highly online nature of the world (more than we ever have in history) parlayed with the fact that "to go viral" you have to have some polarizing take - so people optimize for polarizing and virality instead of thoughtfulness.
