Here is why: The Strait of Hormuz is 21 miles wide at its narrowest point. It sounds big, but only 2 miles are actually used for shipping traffic. Two miles. That’s it. Iran has an estimated 5,000–6,000 naval mines in stockpile right now. They don’t need all of them, a few hundred dropped into those 2 miles would change everything. A mine doesn’t need to explode to cause chaos.
