Iranian people have spent nearly one third of 2026 so far living under internet blackouts. The current shutdown has now lasted more than 245 hours. This is deeply concerning because it effectively silences the voices of the 90 million Iranians living inside the country. At a moment when the world is trying to understand what is happening, those directly affected are largely unable to speak. In that vacuum, the loudest narratives on social media often come from uninformed, incorrect, or politically incentivized sources that do not represent the Iranian people. It also explains why so many voices from the Iranian diaspora are speaking out. Those inside Iran simply cannot. Lift the blackout.
