The countries with the most oil are almost universally the least democratic. 🇰🇼 Kuwait. 🇮🇶 Iraq. 🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia. 🇮🇷 Iran. 🇶🇦 Qatar. All clustered at the bottom of the democracy chart. For decades. Oil doesn't just fund governments. It funds control. When you control the resource, you control the people. No taxes needed. No accountability required. But peak oil is coming in the 2030s. And I genuinely cannot wait to live in a world where renewables have made oil irrelevant. Not just because of cheaper energy. Because sunlight and wind cannot be controlled by a regime! Energy independence = political independence. The transition to renewables isn't just a climate story. It's a freedom story. 😁 🌍 (once we get there - until then, unfortunately, the opposite!)
