1) Trump hasn't won the war - remember the terrible optics of Bush with the "Mission Accomplished" banner behind him 2) Brits remember how long it took to convince the Americans to come to their aid during WWII. The Americans didn't join until Pearl Harbour was bombed. I know this is different in that Trump wasn't asking for UK troops to join in; he was asking for permission to use certain bases such as the RAF Fairford (in England) and Diego Garcia (which is a joint UK-US base in the Indian Ocean) for offensive strikes on Iran. The reporting that Miliband and others had persuaded Starmer to not allow the US to use its own base was either politically inept (the decision was reversed within 48 hours) or BRILLIANT as part of a plot to weaken and undermine Starmer further as PM. Still, Trump needs to reign in such petulant words that don't play well to the British public. He NEEDS to win the hearts and minds of the British people - most of whom don't actually like or support Starmer.
