The endless trip to the Irish Riviera, the Rockaways, courtesy of the MTA… also known as the Money Taking Agency.
What should have been a 1½ hour ride turned into a 3 hour journey. People deserve fast trains if they’re going to raise costs.
Left West 72nd Street at 8:30 AM on the 2 train south with no problem. Transferred at Fulton Street to the A train to Far Rockaway.
That’s where things fell apart.
The A train had become a rolling hotel for homeless men. In two cars the smell was so overpowering passengers had to move just to breathe.
Then every A train stopped at Euclid Avenue. We were forced off and onto a shuttle bus to Howard Beach, crawling through side streets. To keep spirits up I entertained the passengers by singing “The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round.”
At Howard Beach we boarded another A train to Far Rockaway. Then had to get off again at Broad Channel to take the shuttle train to Beach 116th Street for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
What should have been a simple ride became a three hour odyssey.
The trains were dirty.
The buses were dirty.
The service was delayed.
The best part of taking the subway is seeing all of you!
And yet the MTA keeps raising fares.
No wonder people say the MTA stands for the Money Taking Agency. Stop corruption and costs will go down.
