1/ mapping the physical world is such an interesting challenge roads are rule driven and largely 2d, cars have limited range of motion, so making roads machine readable and usable is feasible the real fun begins with complex 3d space with no rules and more expressive motion
2/ i wonder what new system to mapping space will be needed to compress data storage and computation needs and to track state changes with more granularity collecting, cleansing, aggregating, and then computing on this data at global scale in real time feels insanely complex
3/ curious to see who is working on this with novel new approaches this feels like a requisite unlock for any sort of large scale autonomy deployments but one that isn’t talked about as much
