A big reason they want real ID for online accounts and eventually to shuttle underaged folks off the internet, aside from speech suppression and chilling effects, is that young folks have had a massive, outsized role in most of the major social movements in the last two decades, and if you can keep them offline, they can’t organize or radicalize until their brain has been cooked by state propaganda by the time they’re 18.
