One of my favorite self-builds, in Austin, TX. A coder decided he wanted to build his own house (this was early 90's, I believe), so he deep-dived studying medieval building techniques. Basically figured out timber framing, masonry, window-making, and light clay slip infil to build this awesome 900 sq foot house.
