Let me make a cold observation. The critical point for the explosion of stablecoins is around 12-15 billion; once it hits this number, growth will enter the fast lane (as long as there are no major mistakes). So USD1 is sprinting, trying to make a big push, but it turns out this operation wasn't executed well, and there are a few details that weren't handled properly, which is a bit awkward now. The stablecoin business requires huge upfront investment, with the marginal cost being almost negligible later on. Compliance/licenses/security are all fixed costs, and only after reaching a certain scale can you cover those costs. When you have extra resources, you can do more marketing/channel activities to expand your scale. Why is wlfi in such a hurry? Because they know the U.S. is about to cut interest rates significantly. A drop in U.S. Treasury yields = lower stablecoin yields. If the scale hasn't increased by then, and you can't even cover fixed expenses, then there's no point in continuing. Why isn't USDC making a move? Because they know that once the interest rate cut cycle begins, you "newcomer" stablecoins won't be able to handle it. As for the narrative about payments/AI agents, I think it's best to just observe for now - AI wants tokens, and stablecoins are just one of the mediums for tokens.
