Rachel Reeves has become the unemployment chancellor. Labour's tax & regulatory policies are killing jobs in increasing numbers. It's a particular tragedy for young people. Unemployment for 18-24s has reached 14%. For those aged 16-17, the unemployment rate is an amazing 34.2%. It's notable that Labour doesn't seem to be bothered. It's priority is to push up pay in its public sector client base. Public sector pay increased by 7.2% in the 3 months to December versus only a 3.4% rise in the private sector. Public sector union lobbyists like Angela Rayner will regard this as a success.
