Autonomous Ad-Agent
The agent scrapes the site & analyze web traffic to decide on relevance & budget allocation. After securing an ad-space space through bids, it generates an Ad.
Full autonomy from research to creation.
All through x402.
Here's how it works 🧵👇
Here you see two agents,
One representing @crossmint Server Wallets & the other @CoinbaseDev
They aren't given an Ad, a place to advertise or an amount to spend
The are asked to figure out where to advertise, how much budget to allocate & make a relevant creative
First, they pay @firecrawl_dev $0.01 through x402 to scrape the site and learn what it’s about
If the content matches their audience (i.e. developers) they proceed. If not, they move on to the next site.
They’re paying for context before buying ad-spots or making images
Next, they make another x402 call
this time to fetch site's analytics (i.e. traffic stats, CTRs, Geo-info...)
now they know whether this site is actually worth advertising on. They ask themselves:
“How many eyeballs will this get?”
“What’s the ROI?”
“How much should I bid?”
Here, they are looking at a hypothetical developer news site (devNews) and they learn it has:
500k monthly visits, developer audience, two ad spots available:
- Prime banner: 450k impressions, 2.5% CTR
- Sidebar: 280k impressions, 1.8% CTR
Since they found gold (ultra relevant ad-spot), they both decide to focus their entire budget on the Sidebar
Both immediately withdraw from the Prime spot auction & start bidding on the Sidebar
Each bid triggers a 402 Payment Required - the agent pays directly from its wallet
When one gets outbid, the server refunds their last bid immediately.
The refund itself becomes a signal to re-evaluate strategy.
No polling. No webhooks. Just economic coordination through x402 payments.
At the end Crossmint's agent drops out, because it know it needs to save $0.08 to make the Ad (image)
CDP agents wins the sidebar spot and makes an x402 call to prompt @freepik to make an image to advertise for @CoinbaseDev's Server Wallet
From scraping and data purchasing, to analysis, to bidding, to creative generation every action was paid for and executed autonomously by agents using x402.
No humans, no hardcoded logic
just goals, budgets, and interoperable tools.
Of course today we don't have ad spots that have server wallet's or communicate the site's traffic
The demo tries to illustrate how x402 enables agents to access paid tools, services and data to highlight the autonomy they gain
you can try the demo here:
and @probablyangg from @crossmint made a modified version of the demo that is easier to get start with & gives each agent a server wallet which we will dive into later this week
