When I was growing up (poor) I’d ask my mother for 50 pence ($0.50c in USD today). Just so I could get a chocolate or an ice cream. Most of the time my mother would say no. Unless she had been paid from her part time house cleaning job. She said repeatedly “money doesn’t grow on trees”. Scroll forward in time.
