Account#
Account Structure#
Onchain uses a dedicated Account Abstraction (AA) smart account for trading. The account is created or linked when the user enables Onchain trading from an eligible OKX account. Setup includes accepting the applicable agreements, confirming an eligible linked email address, creating a passkey, completing authorization, and completing facial verification when requested.
The passkey is the primary credential for authentication and transaction authorization. Users do not need to create a separate Web3 wallet or manage a private key or seed phrase for routine use. Passkey credentials can be reviewed and managed from User Center > Security settings. An existing eligible Onchain setup is reused rather than recreated.
Onchain availability depends on the user's region and account eligibility.
Agent Authorization#
Agent authorization binds an EOA wallet to the account for signing and submitting authorized trading transactions through the API. The Agent operates only within the permissions granted by the account, and its authorization can be revoked or rebound.
Main Account & Sub-accounts#
Each Onchain main account owns the Account Abstraction (AA) smart account and may have multiple sub-accounts. Sub-accounts are represented by separate TradeZone (TZ) accounts under the main account. They do not have independent AA smart accounts; their permissions and asset ownership remain associated with the main account.
When a sub-account is created, Onchain assigns it a sub-account ID and address and records its relationship to the main account. Sub-account activity is attributed to the main account for account-level aggregation. The main account authorizes a transfer of trading funds to the sub-account before it can trade.
Funds can be transferred between the main account and its sub-accounts. Direct transfers between two sub-accounts are not supported. A sub-account may trade and return funds to the main account within its granted permissions.
CEX Account & VIP Linkage#
The CEX account and the account used for Onchain Perps & Spot are linked to the same OKX identity, but they have separate balances, addresses, and transaction records. Assets are not automatically shared between the two accounts.
The Onchain Perps & Spot account is an Account Abstraction (AA) smart account. Users authenticate and authorize actions with a passkey; they do not need to create or manage a separate wallet or seed phrase for routine use.
Onchain Perps & Spot uses the VIP tier associated with the user's OKX account. It does not have a separate VIP tier. Assets and trading activity on Onchain Perps & Spot contribute to the user's overall VIP assessment alongside their activity on OKX. Sub-accounts share the main account's VIP tier, and their activity is included in the main account's assessment. VIP tier changes follow the standard OKX VIP rules.
