What's the Referral Program?

When you invite others to trade on our platform, you earn a percentage of their trading fees as commission rewards. Meanwhile, your invitees also enjoy trading fee discounts.

Key points:

• Inviter: Earns commission from invitees' trading fees.

• Invitee: Receives trading fee discounts after binding a referral code.

Core advantages:

• Commissions instantly credited to your wallet, with no platform custody.

• Commission rates up to 50%.

• Supports Solana and major EVM chains like X Layer, BSC, Base - all records are transparently verifiable on-chain.

How do I become an inviter?

Complete the process in two steps:

1. On the web, go to the Referral dashboard and connect your OKX seed phrase wallet. On the app, navigate to Home > More > Explore > Referral

2. Click Create code, set a 5-15 character code (letters or numbers), choose an invitee discount (0-20%), and complete your first code creation to automatically become an inviter

Notes:

• Each wallet can create up to 100 referral codes.

• Referral codes can't be modified or deleted once created.

• Only OKX seed phrase wallets support creating referral codes.

After creating a referral code, how do I share the invitation link?

Method 1: Copy invitation link

1. Go to the Referral dashboard

2. Click the Copy button next to the referral code or invitation link

3. Share the link with others

Method 2: Append the code to a link

1. Add ?ref=YourReferralCode after any OKX Web3 page URL. Example: https://web3.okx.com/join?ref=OKXDEX

2. Share the link on social media platforms

3. When others click the link to enter OKX Web3 pages, your referral code will be automatically applied

Method 3: Guide others to bind manually
Direct others to the Referral dashboard, connect their wallet, click Enter Referral Code, and enter your code

How do I bind a referral code to save on trading fees?

Method 1: Click invitation link (Recommended)

1. Click the invitation link shared by your friend

2. Click the Join Now button

3. Authorize with your wallet to complete the binding
   Note: if you download the app through a friend's invitation link, all wallets you add in the app will automatically bind to your friend's referral code

Method 2: Manual input

1. Open the Referral Center

2. Click Enter referral code

3. Enter the code and sign to complete the binding

4. If the binding is completed on the app, any new wallets added on this device will also automatically bind to the same code

Method 3: Auto-bind during trading
If you haven't bound a referral code yet, the system automatically detects it on the trading page:

• If you previously bound a code on another device, your historically bound code will be automatically applied

• If you recently clicked an invitation link, that code will be automatically applied.

As long as you don't remove the auto-applied code on the trading page, binding will be completed automatically when you confirm and sign the transaction. Any new wallets added on this device will also automatically bind to the same code.

Note: after upgrading the app to version 6.152.0, initial binding affects all new wallets on the device, so please verify carefully.

Commission and discount rules

How is the commission rate calculated?

Formula:

Your Actual Commission = Total Commission Rate - Discount Given to Friend

Examples:

• Example 1:

  • Your tier: Tier 1 (20% total commission)

  • Discount given to your friend: 10%

  • Friend's trading fee: 10 USDC

  • Result:

    • Your commission: 10 USDC × (20% - 10%) = 1 USDC

    • Friend's savings: 10 USDC × 10% = 1 USDC saved

• Example 2 (important warning):

  • Your tier: Tier 1 (20% total commission)

  • Discount given to your friend: 20%

  • Result: Your commission = 20% - 20% = 0% (no commission)

Avoid setting discounts too high, as this'll leave you with no earnings.

Q6: What are the tier levels and corresponding commission rates?

Higher tiers unlock higher total commission rates. Your tier is determined by your invitees' monthly trading volume:

Notes:

• Upgrade evaluation: automatic hourly assessment; auto-upgrade within 2 hours of qualification.

• Downgrade evaluation: assessed on the 1st of each month based on the past 3 months’ performance; downgrade occurs if requirements are not met for 3 consecutive months.

• After downgrade: friends’ discounts remain unchanged, but your total commission rate will adjust.

What's the invitee discount range?

You can set a 0–20% trading fee discount for invitees (whole numbers only).

How to set it: select the discount percentage when creating the referral code.

Note: once a code is created, the discount can't be modified.

Strategy recommendations:

• Beginners: Set a 5–10% discount to ensure reasonable commission earnings. If you're Tier 1, avoid setting a 20% discount, as this results in 0 commission.

• Higher discounts may attract more invitees but will reduce your commission.

Referral code binding

Can I change a bound referral code?

No. Once a referral code is bound to a wallet on the same device, it can't be modified or changed. After upgrading the app to version 6.152.0, binding on the app affects all new wallets added on that device, which will automatically inherit the same code. Please verify the code carefully before binding.

If I import a previously bound wallet on a new device, will the binding sync?

Yes. Ensure your app is upgraded to version 6.144.0 or above, or your browser extension to version 3.79.0 or above, to sync binding relationships across devices.

How it works:

1. You bind a wallet to a referral code on Device A

2. You import the same wallet on Device B, and the system automatically prompts you to restore the binding

3. After confirmation, the referral relationship takes effect on Device B

Does uninstalling the app, removing the extension, or clearing cache affect the referral relationship?

Yes, it does. However, if the version you used before uninstalling or clearing cache supports multi-device sync, you can restore the binding later.

Recovery method:

1. Re-download the latest OKX Wallet app or extension

2. Import the previously bound wallet and open the Referral Center:

   • App/Extension: Home > More > Explore > Referral Program

   • Web: Top navigation bar > Referral Program

3. The system prompts you to restore your previous code binding

4. Confirm and sign to continue enjoying discounts

Note: you must import the original wallet. Importing a new wallet will not automatically restore the previous binding.

If I import the same wallet on multiple devices, what happens to the binding?

We use device-level independent binding. The same wallet can bind different referral codes on different devices, and commissions are calculated based on the device used for trading.

Example scenario:

• You import Wallet X on Phone A and bind code CODE123.

• You import the same Wallet X on Phone B and bind code CODE456.

• Trades on Phone A → commission goes to CODE123’s inviter.

• Trades on Phone B → commission goes to CODE456’s inviter.

Commission not received issues

Why didn't I receive commission when my invited friend traded?

Please troubleshoot the following situations:

Situation 1: Your actual commission rate is 0%

Check method:

• Review your tier and the discount you set

• Formula: Total commission rate - Discount = Actual commission

Example:

• Tier 1 (20% total commission)

• Friend discount: 20%

• Actual commission = 20% - 20% = 0%

Solution:

• Create a new referral code with a discount lower than your current total commission rate (for example, set to 10%).

• Or increase your tier by inviting more users to trade.

Situation 2: The traded token doesn't incur fees

Some token trades don't charge UI service fees and therefore generate no commission.

How to verify: check the OKX DEX UI Service Fee description to confirm whether the trading pair incurs fees.

Situation 3: The referral relationship was lost

This may occur if your friend:

• Switched devices without re-binding.

• Cleared browser data (cookies).

• Used browser incognito mode.

• Deleted and reinstalled the app or extension.

Situation 4: Your referral code or wallet is frozen

If the system detects violations, your referral code may be frozen and stop generating commissions.

Check method: go to the Referral Center and check the code status.

I'm an invitee and bound a code with a discount: why didn't I receive the benefit?

Note: discounts are applied in real time. The service fee is directly deducted at the discounted rate during order placement. There's no cashback afterward.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Check if a referral code is bound

• Go to the Referral Center to confirm

• Check whether the code appears next to the service fee on the order page

• If not shown, binding was unsuccessful

2. Check if the bound code includes a discount

• Method 1: In the Referral Center, look for a discount indicator next to the bound code

  • Example: Bound: OKXDEX (20% off)

• Method 2: On the DEX order page, check the service fee display

  • Example: Service Fee: 0.68% (0.85%)

Commission Distribution and Queries

When do commissions arrive?

In real time. After your friend’s trade settles, commission is immediately sent to your wallet.

Arrival details:

• Receiving address: the wallet address you used to create the referral code (corresponding chain address)

• Commission token: settled in the token your friend actually paid as service fee

• Example: if a friend trades on X Layer with OKB service fee, you receive OKB commission to your X Layer address

How do I view commission records?

Steps:

1. Open the Referral Center

2. Select Commission Records

3. View detailed information

Available data:

• Transaction time.

• Transaction amount.

• Corresponding referral code.

• Commission amount.

• Commission receiving address.

• Blockchain explorer link (click to view on-chain records).

How do I see which users I've invited?

Steps:

1. Go to the Referral Center

2. Select Invitees

Viewable content:

• Each user's address (anonymized) who bound your code

• Each user's trading volume

• Total commission each user generated for you

• Filter statistics by time period

How do I manage multiple referral codes?

Steps:

1. Go to the Referral Center

2. Click Referral Codes

Available operations:

• View all codes and commission rates.

• Track earnings per code.

• Create new codes (up to 100).

• Add private notes (visible only to you).

• Set a default referral code.

• Copy sharing links.

Violations and restrictions

What behaviors are considered violations?

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and will result in permanent blacklisting:

• Offline cashback

  • Providing additional rebates to friends through offline transfers, red envelopes, and more.

  • Offering discounts beyond system settings.

• Self-referral

  • Binding your own wallets to your referral code.

  • Simulating multiple users through technical means.

• Other cheating behaviors

  • Any attempt to undermine the commission mechanism.

What are the consequences of violations?

Penalties include:

• Permanent freeze of inviter privileges.

• Inability to create new referral codes.

• Loss of all commission earnings.

• All existing referral codes become invalid.

Note: follow the rules and participate through official channels to protect your rights.

What should I do if my referral code or wallet is frozen?

Possible reasons:

• Suspected violations.

• Risk control triggers.

Resolution:

• Review potential violations.

• Contact customer service with relevant evidence.

• Wait for manual review.

Note: no new commissions are generated during the review period.

Other common questions

Which wallets support referral code binding?

• Seed phrase wallets (recommended)

• Private key wallets (Solana and EVM networks only)

How many referral codes can I create?

Up to 100 referral codes per seed phrase wallet.

Rules:

• Length: 5-15 characters.

• Letters and numbers only.

• Can't be modified or deleted.

• Each code can have an independent invitee discount percentage.

Suggestions:

• Use different codes for different channels to track effectiveness.

• Add private notes feature to mark each code's purpose.

Are referral codes case-sensitive?

No, referral codes aren't case-sensitive.

Example: OKXDEX, okxdex, and OkXdEx all refer to the same referral code.

Can I delete or modify a created referral code?

No, you can't.

Once created, referral codes are permanently valid and can't be modified or deleted. It's because:

• Referral relationships are recorded on the blockchain to ensure transparency

• Prevents inviters from changing commission rules after friends bind

Suggestion:

• Carefully confirm the code name and discount percentage before creating.

• If strategy adjustments are needed, create a new referral code.

Can I modify the invitee discount of a created code?

No, you can't.

The invitee discount percentage is set when creating the code and can't be modified afterward.

If you want to adjust strategy:

• Create a new referral code with a new discount percentage.

• Share the new code with new users.

For already bound friends:

• Their discount percentage remains unchanged.

• Even if your tier increases, their discount stays the same (but your total commission rate will increase).

What's the default referral code?

The default referral code is the code automatically attached by the system when you share links. Set it as below:

1. Go to Referral Center > Referral Codes option

2. Find the code you want to set as default

3. Click Set as Default option

Reasons why it's needed:

• When clicking share buttons on feature pages, the system automatically adds your default code to links.

• No need to manually add ?ref= parameters.

Note:

• The first code you create automatically becomes the default.

• You can change the default code anytime.

What are private notes?

Private notes are personal markers you add to each referral code, visible only to you. Below are the use cases:

• Mark promotional channels (for example, "Twitter," "WeChat Moments," "Telegram Group")

• Label target user groups (for example, "Beginners," "Whales")

• Record creation time or purpose

Learn how you can add private notes as below:

1. Go to Referral Center > Referral Codes option

2. Find the corresponding code and click the Add Note option

3. Enter note content and save

What are the specific tier upgrade and downgrade rules?

All trading volumes mentioned below refer to fee-incurring pair trading volumes contributed by your invitees. Here are the upgrade rules:

• Evaluation frequency: automatic assessment every hour.

• Statistics period: current month's cumulative invitee spot trading volume.

• Effective time: auto-upgrade within 2 hours of qualification.

• After upgrade: immediately enjoy the new tier's total commission rate.

And find out the downgrade rules as below:

• Evaluation time: first of each month at 00:00:00 (UTC+0).

• Statistics period: trading volume of the past 3 calendar months.

• Downgrade condition: failing to meet current tier requirements for 3 consecutive months.

• Downgrade target: downgrade to the highest tier qualified for in the past 3 months.

Example:

• Current time is May 1st 00:00, your tier is Tier 4 (requires $5M invitee trading volume in one calendar month)

• Your invitee trading volumes in February, March, April were: 1.2M,1.2M, 1.2M,2.1M, $1.8M.

• Highest was March with $2.1M, only meeting Tier 3 standard.

• Starting May 1st, your tier automatically downgrades to Tier 3.

Some impacts after downgrade take place:

• Your total commission rate decreases (for example, from 40% to 35%)

• But discounts given to friends in already-created codes remain unchanged

Can I invite my own other wallets?

No, you can't. This constitutes self-referral, a strictly prohibited violation.

The system detects self-referral behavior through multiple technical means. Once discovered, the inviter wallet's invitation privileges are permanently frozen, unable to receive any commissions or create new codes.

We recommend genuinely inviting others to maintain a healthy referral ecosystem.

Can I modify a created referral code?

No, you can't. Referral codes can't be modified once created. If you really need to change:

• You can create a new referral code.

• But the original code will remain and can't be deleted.

• Friends bound through the original code are unaffected.

Suggestions:

• Think carefully before creating.

• Use a main wallet address you'll hold long-term.

• Avoid frequent changes.

Why did the new wallets I added automatically bind a referral code?

This is our upgraded auto-binding feature designed for a more convenient experience. Available after upgrading the app to version 6.152.0.

After your device first binds a referral code, as long as that code remains valid, new wallets added subsequently on that device will automatically inherit this binding relationship. We recommend carefully verifying the code source during initial binding.

Will my binding relationships change after upgrading from the old version?

No, they won't. As long as previously bound codes remain valid, already-bound wallet relationships remain completely unchanged.

Will the referral program rules change?

They may be adjusted.

OKX Wallet reserves the right to adjust referral program rules based on market conditions, including but not limited to:

• Commission rates

• Tier upgrade/downgrade standards

• Invitee discount ranges

• Violation behavior definitions

Pre-adjustment Commitments:

• Users will be notified in advance via announcements.

• Major adjustments will have reasonable transition periods.

• Already-established referral relationships remain valid.
