OKX Wallet Gas Station: Pay gas fees across supported networks with stablecoins on X Layer

Have you ever tried to make a transfer or an onchain trade, only to find that you have stablecoins but not enough of the network’s native token to pay for gas?OKX Wallet Gas Station lets you pay network fees using USDT, USDC, or USDG held on X Layer in your current wallet. A third-party service provider sends native tokens to your wallet on the destination network, helping you proceed with your original transaction.

What is Gas Station?

Gas Station is a network fee payment feature in OKX Wallet. When you don’t have enough native tokens on the destination network, you can pay with supported stablecoins on X Layer, reducing the steps needed to prepare gas across networks.

  • Payment assets: USDT, USDC, and USDG held at your current wallet’s X Layer address.

  • Destination networks supported in the initial release: Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Base, Robinhood Chain, Arc, and Solana.

  • Platforms: App, browser extension, and Web.

  • Supported wallet types: Seed phrase wallets and Social Login wallets.

  • Core use cases: Transfers, DEX trades, and DApp interactions.

How it works:You pay with stablecoins on X Layer. A third-party service provider sends native tokens to your address on the destination network, and your wallet then continues through the original transaction flow.

How to use OKX Wallet Gas Station

Check your balance and settings

Gas Station is enabled by default, so you don’t need to turn it on before using it.

  • App and browser extension: Go to More → Toolkit → Gas Station.

  • Web: Open Gas Station from the account menu.

The Gas Station page shows the feature’s status, your current wallet’s stablecoin balances on X Layer, supported networks, and service provider information. You can also use Deposit to add funds. Before depositing, check the network, asset, and address shown on the page. Send supported assets to your current wallet’s X Layer address. The setting for the same wallet account syncs across the App, browser extension, and Web.

Pay gas during a transaction

When you initiate a supported transaction, your wallet selects the default payment method based on your balances:

  • Enough native tokens on the destination network: Network fees are paid with native tokens by default.

  • Insufficient native tokens, but enough of a supported stablecoin on X Layer: Gas Station is used automatically.

  • Neither native tokens nor any of the three supported stablecoins can cover the fee: You’ll be prompted to add funds.

Gas Station checks balances in this order: USDG → USDT → USDC. It uses the first asset with a sufficient balance. Each payment uses one stablecoin; balances across different stablecoins are not combined. For transactions with a confirmation screen, review the Gas Station payment method, payment asset, and fee before confirming. Transactions without a confirmation screen follow their existing transaction and signing flow.

What if my balance is insufficient?

Follow the on-screen instructions to add native tokens on the destination network, or supported stablecoins to your current wallet’s X Layer address. After funding, return to the original transaction and follow the prompts in the App or extension. On Web, initiate the transaction again. Your wallet will check your balance and fees again. Receiving funds does not automatically submit the original transaction.

Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I use Gas Station even though I hold stablecoins?

Check that your assets are held at your current wallet’s X Layer address and are supported USDT, USDC, or USDG. Stablecoins held on other networks cannot be used directly for this feature.Gas Station must also be enabled, and your wallet type, network, and transaction must be supported. Adding stablecoins will not resolve an unsupported network or temporary service unavailability.

Why do I see three transaction records?

Gas Station involves three steps, which appear as separate records in your transaction history:

  1. Your stablecoin payment on X Layer.

  2. The service provider’s native token transfer to your address on the destination network.

  3. Your original transaction.

Each record updates according to its own result, and you can view its details separately.

How are refunds handled if a transaction fails?

If Gas Station processing fails and a refund is generated, the system processes the refund automatically. No manual claim is required. Once the refund is complete, you can view its record in your transaction history. If native tokens have already been delivered but your original transaction subsequently fails, Gas Station still settles the completed service. A failed original transaction therefore does not necessarily mean the Gas Station payment will be refunded.

Can I turn off Gas Station?

Yes. You can disable it on the Gas Station page. New transactions will then follow the native token fee payment flow. Gas Station requests submitted before you disabled the feature will continue to be processed.
