After working at Nishi-Kamakura Kindergarten, Nishi-Kamakura Elementary School, Kamakura Gakuen Junior High School, Kamakura Gakuen High School, Nihon University, and office worker, he served as a member of the Kamakura City Council and Kanagawa Prefectural Council for a total of about 8 years, and became the mayor of Kamakura in November 2009 (currently in his fourth term).
