EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration has launched a civil rights probe into the Duke Law Journal based on our reporting—and it's warning that Duke Medical School could be next.
The school could lose ~1 billion in federal aid if it does not make major changes within six months.🧵

His interlocutor points out that they want the same thing: they want kids to grow up happy and healthy.
The difference is that the man thinks chemically castrating and dismembering his son, leaving him sterile, anorgamsic, and tied to a medical leash for ongoing complications inflicted by doctors for life is the way to achieve it, while his interlocutor thinks everyone is better off in intact bodies that haven't been mortified by voluntary medical procedures made in pursuit of a delusion that can never be true.
The woman addressing the man is objectively correct for reasons that it insults the intelligence to have to recount. But a manufactured consensus within medicine and law sides with the man as he doses his son with estrogen and celebrates the growth of his breasts.
A manufactured consensus generated by pure fraud, through institutional capture and institutional bullying, whose contours we understand fully and have documented fully in briefs submitted to the Supreme Court is the basis for this man's smug self-certainty as he handwaves away reason and reality offered in good faith.
It tells him that he is a righteous savior as he steers his son on the path toward castration and that those reminding him that it's better to remain in an intact body are dangerous fascists and enemies who must be scorned, vilified, and have their livelihoods ruined.

Canada is the no. 2 immigrant destination after the US, and you can easily see the massive dropoff in human capital when you go from being destination no. 1 to no. 2 -- and the ease with which destination no. 1 skims the cream of no. 2's human capital

Stats Can data reveals that 68% (1,666) of Canadians who applied to work in the USA in 2024
were either C-suite, business/investment professionals, engineers (computer or otherwise) or architects
...another 6% were doctors.
The are only taking the best. BRAIN. DRAIN.

I grew up right next to Cambridge, living and breathing academia, especially science academia, and remember in high school sitting on the bus near Harvard/MIT with my friend, talking about how all the Indian aunties and uncles wanted to push me toward science, but I didn't want to go into it, etc. This woman turned around and told me never to go into science -- she was ~30 and had a PhD in biology but was making nothing and wished she had done something else.
IMO, it's not just administrative expansion, although it is that; it's that no industry will attract decent people with abysmal wages and little-to-no job security and little-to-no geographic flexibility (and a great deal of ideological rigidity that makes normal people feel like they're walking on eggshells), especially not all at the same time.

At the moment, a lot of twitter accounts appear to be copying each other and saying that we know nothing about the world prior to the creation of writing. So I thought I'd share one of my favourite pieces of ancient art. This is the 'Lion-Man' & it is about 40,000 years old. 🧵1/
