Science got another one wrong about women and fertility. For years, we were told eggs age because their mitochondria collect DNA damage. August 2025 research shows eggs keep their mitochondrial DNA almost spotless, 17× fewer mutations than other cells, even into your 40s! Fertility decline after 35 may be due to fewer mitochondria, reduced redox, or changes in the ovarian environment: toxicity, depletion, inflammation.
