So just pay attention to the point below:
Bitcoin ownership - true ownership - is available today only to a limited group of people.
The complex technical requirements to buying BTC means that the vast majority of the people will not be able to do that without going through a third party to simplify the process for them.
Mainstreaming Bitcoin - the currency - is not the same as mainstreaming its core values (self-custody, not depending on a central entity).
Bringing L2s into the picture would help spreading Bitcoin values far more than preserving the network the way it is now for all eternity
