Nir Hasson from Haaretz has examined why, despite the delivery of aid through the GHF, hunger in Gaza is reaching lethal proportions. First, the amount is insufficient. Millions of meals are needed daily, but only a fraction gets through. Out of 353 million meals needed, 85 million meals have been delivered. Then many of those meals cannot be eaten. Without kitchens, gas, or clean water, the aid packages are useless piles of ingredients. This shows a shocking lack of real planning or concern for how people actually live there. Meanwhile, the distribution centers have no clear hours. Sometimes they are open for just minutes, with no set schedule, forcing desperate crowds to risk their lives in deadly chaos. The most vulnerable—children, the sick, the elderly—are left empty-handed while others scramble for scraps. Then there’s the blatant obstruction: trucks stuck at checkpoints, aid stolen or sold on the black market, and a political machine that drags its feet on legal efforts to get more food in. It’s clear there’s an intentional blockade on survival, a cold strategy that uses hunger as a weapon. This is part of an elaborate hoax to starve the population while appearing to feed them.
