One of the things I appreciated about working with midwives for my last pregnancy was that I was encouraged at every appointment to talk about how I was feeling about the pregnancy, the birth, the baby, my faith, my relationship, really anything that could possibly play into what we were about to do together I think it's demonstrable that a *ton* of women have had their trust in medical oversight rocked because, for example, they were repeatedly and aggressively offered termination under circumstances where what they wanted and needed was support and compassion for the dramatic shift in expectations for their birth and their child's life All that is required is the time and interest in developing a basic understanding and respect for the mother's perspective
