The DEX Referral Program is a Web3-native rewards mechanism designed to help you grow your trading network while earning additional income. When your invitee trades on OKX DEX, you’ll receive a portion of their trading fees as a commission—paid directly to your wallet.

We’ll deep dive into the core mechanism of the DEX Referral program to help you have a more comprehensive understanding of the program. The core mechanism of the program includes:

  • Commission calculation

  • Upgrade and downgrade mechanism for referral level

How does the commission calculation work?

Commission calculation

The calculation rule of the inviter's commission rate is:

Actual commission rate = Total commission rate - Invitee trading discount rate

As an inviter, your invitation level will determine the total commission rate you can enjoy, and you can set the invitee trading discount rate for invitees yourself.

Example:

  • If your total commission rate is 30% and the invitee discount rate is 10%, then your actual commission rate will be 20%.

    • When the invitee completes a DEX transaction with a fee of 10 USDC;

    • Inviter commission = 10 USDC × (30% - 10%) = 2 USDC.

Referral levels and assessment criteria

The DEX Referral Program has 3 levels, and the inviter's level will determine the total commission rate that can be enjoyed. By default, you start at level 1, and the commission rate is 30%; the higher the level, the higher the commission rate, where level 2 is 35% and level 3 is 40%.

All levels can set the invitee trading discount rate for each referral code, ranging from 0% to 20%.

The system will regularly evaluate and adjust your referral level, and the evaluation includes the cumulative performance of all referral codes generated by the invitation wallet, mainly based on the following indicators:

  • Trading volume of your invitees

  • Number of first time traders or cumulative traders

Example (You need to fulfill the requirements below to upgrade to Level 2):

  • Monthly invitee trading volume ≥ $2,000,000;

  • 10 first-time traders OR 50 cumulative traders

Each level corresponds to different threshold requirements, refer to the table below for details.

Level
Mandatory requirement One of the following conditions Total commission rate Invitee trading discount rate
Invitee trading volume First-time trader of the current month Cumulative traders of the month
1 $0 0 0 30% 0-20%
2 $2,000,000 10 50 35% 0-20%
3 $5,000,000 20 100 40% 0-20%

Upgrade mechanism

Daily evaluation will be conducted in UTC + 0 00:00:00, and the cumulative data of the month will be counted. If you meet the standards of a higher level, you will immediately upgrade and enjoy the corresponding commission rate.

Example:

If your cumulative invitee trading volume reaches $2,100,000 in the evaluation on September 15th, and 10 new first-time traders are counted , you have fulfilled the level 2 requirement. You'll then be upgraded to level 2 from 15th September onwards, and the commission rate will be increased to 35%.

Downgrade mechanism

Monthly evaluation will be conducted on the first day of each month, and the cumulative data of the previous month will be counted. If the current level requirement is not met for 3 consecutive months, the system will perform a downgrade.

Example:

You were promoted to level 2 in the September evaluation, but the invitee trading volume in October, November, and December was only $100,000. If you fail to meet the level 2 requirement during the monthly evaluation for three consecutive months (1st November, 1st December, and 1st January), you’ll be downgraded during the January evaluation.

If you meet the corresponding requirement for level 2 or above again in the November assessment, the downgrade will be postponed by N+4 months. That means, the earliest you'll be downgraded in March of the following year.

When your level is downgraded, the invitee trading fee discount rate remains unchanged, but your commission rate will be adjusted based on the latest total commission rate.

For example:

  • The invitee trading fee discount rate is 10% ;

  • When the level is downgraded from level 3 to level 1 , the total commission rate is reduced from 40% to 30%;

  • Since the invitee trading fee discount rate remains the same, your actual commission rate will be reduced to 20% from 30%.

Commission distribution

Inviter's commission

  • Only token trades on OKX DEX that incur service fees will generate commissions. Click here to view the fee table.

  • When the invitee completes the transaction, the commission will be rebated in the form of fee token, directly distributed to the OKX Web3 wallet that the inviter used to create referral code. The commission will be transferred to the corresponding address on the chain where the trade takes place.

  • Example:

    • Invitee makes a transaction on XLayer via OKX DEX with a fee of 0.5 OKB

    • Assuming the referral code is set to a 10% discount , the inviter's commission rate is 20%

    • Actual service fee paid = 0.5 x (1 - 10%) = 0.45 OKB

    • Inviter commission = 0.5 × 20% = 0.1 OKB

    • The 0.1 OKB commission will be distributed to the inviter’s X Layer address of his OKX wallet

  • No commission is generated if:

    • Invitation wallet or referral code is frozen

    • Invitee traded tokens that don't incur service fee
