As I'm reading everything about @pudgypenguins & @nobodysausage building, I couldn't agree more about the power of IP The path web2 → web3 or web3 → web2 doesn’t really matter – It doesn’t matter whether a project starts in web2 and moves into web3 or the other way around. – What truly matters is whether the IP is strong, distinctive, stands out, and can exist independently anywhere. The power = strong IP – Real power lies in an IP with a clear identity and a recognizable character. – Such an IP can collaborate with fashion, streaming, retail, gaming etc. – The audience connects with the character and the story, not with whether it lives in web2 or web3. The team is critical – Around the IP you need a tight, professional team with a clear strategy, fresh ideas, adaptability to change, and consistent execution. – The team chooses collaborations that strengthen the IP and avoids those that don’t add real value. – Products, games, licensing and collabs are designed both to generate revenue that supports sustainability and to increase awareness, not just to create short-term hype. Example web2 → web3: Nobody Sausage – Born as a social-media-native IP and gained massive traction across platforms. – Attracted inbound collaborations with major brands and well-known creators (Netflix, Adidas, Bershka, Sephora, Decathlon, Hugo Boss, Kiehl’s, Ryan Reynolds, Terrence Crawford, Christian Louboutin). – The move into a token and web3 is simply a continuation of an already well-established presence. Example web3 → web2: Pudgy Penguins – Started as an NFT collection. – Turned their digital capital into physical and mainstream presence: plushies, retail, books, animation, games, licensing, social media, collectibles (Dreamworld, YouTube series, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Amazon, Shopify, Origin Protocol, Overpass IP, Random House Children’s Books, PEZ, Lufthansa, NASCAR, Mythical Games, Suplay Inc., Horizon Group USA, BE@RBRICK, Walrus and more). What really matters is the combination of strong IP, sound strategy and high-quality partnerships.
