We've failed!!!
Guys my age will avoid going to a party because social anxiety, but they're fine spending 12 hours straight playing games or scrolling. Face to face convo feels exhausting but we'll argue with strangers online for hours.
We're cautious with people, reckless with our time and attention. A lot of us are doing everything alone now.
> Working out alone
> Eating alone
> Spending entire weekends in our rooms with multiple screens
Real life has got complicated. If one wants to start something physical. You need permits, connections, money, years of work. While to scroll endlessly or buy some random crypto it takes zero effort.
Digital became frictionless. Physical stayed hard. So people chose screens.
And everything adapted. Every platform figured out how to keep you locked in longer. Infinite scroll, autoplay, algo feeds that know exactly what holds your attention. Everything on our screens is designed to keep us from leaving.
Meanwhile the traditional path vanished. The normal script doesn't work anymore.
> First homes at 40 now
> Kids and marriage feel like luxuries requiring generational wealth
People call it a loneliness crisis. But I don't think that's right. We're not lonely but we're just comfortable being alone. The screens fill the gap so well we forgot why we'd want actual company.
We built a world where opening an app is easier than starting a conversation. Where everything in real life has friction but everything digital is instant. Where building community takes effort but consuming content takes nothing.
That's not progress.
