‘Sentimental Value’ is Norwegian director Joachim Trier’s latest film and a frank exploration of what it actually means to be family. In the film, Elle Fanning plays Rachel Kemp, an American actress, who is cast in director Gustav’s (Stellan Skarsgård) first film in 15 years, after his actress daughter Nora (Renate Reinsve) turns the part down. At the U.S. premiere of ‘Sentimental Value’ at New York Film Festival, Fanning shared what it was like to play such a meta role.
